B Division Update

In the B Division play-offs, the top team from the men’s red and blue groups went head to head and it was Finland who emerged victorious as they defeated England 8-2 after nine ends.

In the game between the two second placed teams, Netherlands won 9-7 against Hungary.

As a result, England will now play the Netherland’s with the winner progressing to meet Finland in the gold medal game, while the loser of that game will face Hungary for the bronze medals.

It was also confirmed, following the conclusion of the men’s round-robin, that France and Romania have been relegated to the European Curling Championships C Division.

In the women’s B Division, Norway defeated Austria 10-5 after eight ends of play in the 1v2 game while Hungary defeated Italy 11-3 after eight ends of play in the 3v4 Page play.

As a result, Austria will now play Hungary in the sole semi-final, with the winner going on to face Norway in the gold medal game and the loser facing Italy for the bronze medals.

Belarus and Slovakia women have been relegated to the C Division.

All B Division semi-finals will take place at 20:00, while the next session of play in the A Division is the men’s and women’s Page play-offs which begin at 19:00, all times local (CET).
